In 1999 I was working for a company having offices and subsidiaries in several coutries (Seattle (USA), Dublin (UK), Paris (France), Sydney (Australia), etc.) It would have been too expensive to pay flights tickets for all this staff to attend the weekly meetings. Web based conferencing became evident at this time.

I was a little bit apprehensive about first installing web based conferencing. It wasn't that it was prohibitively expensive or that I didn't think that we could use it, but I was worried about becoming too dependent on the new gadget. You see, we have gotten by without ever having a web based conference for years. As a matter of fact, we had few conference calls at all. I had seen businesses become completely dependent on web based conferencing systems, systems that were complex and sometimes failed. Many of these companies did perfectly well without the technology for a while, but once they got it, they couldn't do without it. I was afraid that if our Web conferencing software went off-line, we would be paralyzed.

Fortunately, we have a top-notch guy in IT working in Seattle. He assured me that the web based video conferencing program that we were using was extremely reliable, and that he would personally take responsibility for ensuring that it worked all the time. That's why I hired him: that willingness to step up to the plate and go the extra mile to make sure that things get done. Although it took a while to set up the web based conferencing software, once he did we were all eager to try it. We set up an experimental meeting with all of the various regional offices. We had a new sales policy and, rather than sending out an e-mail about it, we allowed our sales expert to give a lecture on it.


I was surprised by how much more effective it was. It's no secret that half of the people in the company never read the sales e-mails at all. They figure that they know how to do their jobs well enough without the new jargon and techniques. Once they were actually forced to sit and listen to it, however, I could tell that they were tuning in and picking up some useful tips. They asked intelligent questions that proved that they were listening, and helped illuminate the lesson further.

Since then, we have continued using the web based conferencing on a weekly basis. Most of our most important communication still take place over e-mail or in person, but slowly web-based video conferencing becamea bigger and bigger part of our company. It allowed us to check in on each other more thoroughly and communicate more efficiently, things that can only strengthen the company.

To avoid disasters, I strongly recommend you to use reminders from the softwares you prefer to alert you when there's only 3 - 2 and 1 month before your domain name expires. Before it expires, renew it for 12 months or more and that will be fine.

In this new millennium there're plenty of

more or less inspirational. In fact, so much of everything we do has gone to the Internet. Just take a moment to ponder that statement. What do you use your personal computer for each and every day? I know I use mine constantly. Yesterday I was working with my laptop in a MacDonald's waiting for my next rendez-vous. And today I type this article in a train to Normandy. ;o)

If I'm not working on it, I'm checking the bank account, typing an email, or surfing the World-Wide-Web. That's what's so great about cyberspace. It truly offers us infinite possibilities. This especially applies to work. Imagine what you could do for a living from your very own home? If you've never done this, then you really should start thinking about it. Before 1999, I didn't know that there were 2 different types of e-mail.
I was browsing forums that were having a lot of problems with trolls.

Trolls are people who come to forums looking to make trouble, and have nothing constructive to add to any conversation.
When there're trolls on a forum, the forum moderator does everything possible to push them out of the forum more often banning their IP address or the accounts login/password they use there.

This is clearly the kind of online job I'll hate...
I remember one member suggested that anyone with web based e-mail be banned from the site.
What bothered me about this was that I realized that I had signed up for that site with a web based e-mail.

Even if my Internet Service Provider offered me an e-mail address, I rarely used it.
I prefer using for my online correspondence a few web based e-mails.

Why?
The reason is simple.
I'm free to change my ISP if another one makes me a more attractive offer without losing my contacts and access to my mailbox.

My contacts won't appreciate to receive notifications from Mr or Mrs Mailer Daemon telling them my email address is nor more valid because I've just changed for a new Internet Service Provider.

It was simply a matter of common sense that keeping the same web based e-mail address was much easier and more convenient for me.
If you have had to change your e-mail address on a regular basis, you know how boring it is.

Since 1999, I experimented a few hard disks crash so from that bad experience I heard how smart is not toput all your eggs in the same basket.
In my opinion, it's better to use a web based email hosting solutions and also a software to copy your emails in your hard disk.

In this case if you find a web connection, you can consult your new emails.
If you wish to read offline, just launch your favourite program (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.)

But, there's one problem left with web-based e-mail. If you have any type of business online you want to have an e-mail address that is either related to your site, or that is through your Internet service provider.

Some people won’t take you seriously if he uses type of e-mail for any type of business reason.
It doesn't sound very pro.

In such cases I recommend you to pay a few bucks per month (less than $7) to host your website and get free professional email accounts.

Even the domain name is included.
It will cost you less money than paying for a dedicated email hosting web.

Indeed, it only depends on the size of your company.

There are so many people out there who use web-based e-mail for things that are not exactly legitimate.
You may notice that some of the spam e-mail you get in your e-mail box comes from web-based e-mail addresses.

However, web based e-mail is generally free, and very useful. I use Gmail and Yahoo, and I have used them for years.

Not only is it reliable, it has changed sometimes.
They do not rely on keeping customers by staying the same.

No matter what type of web-based e-mail you choose, you may find that even if you have e-mail through your Internet service provider, you want to have at least one of these e-mail addresses.

This means that even if you move you have to change your other e-mail addresses you will always have one that remains the same.

Could you just imagine during one minute how we could live nowadays without Wireless connections to the Internet? Figure it out through the business but also the personal use to realize how it became a part of our lives.

I suppose it's safe to say that the World-Wide-Web has come along way since it began in the 1990s. We're no longer grappling with the annoying dial-up process. Nor do we have to surrender our telephones just to surf the web. DSL, high-speed cable and wireless Internet service have changed the game completely. Today we enjoy our PCs and Macs all day, any time we please without the old-school hassles. Most likely you're enjoying yours as we speak. Welcome to the new and exciting time of convenient Internet without all the wires.

It's not surprising in any way to enter a coffee shop and see patrons sipping on a cup of java, while surfing the web or getting some daily work done. This is the norm in the world we currently inhabit. I first discovered this convenience in a Starbuck Coffee but now it's everywhere from the USA to Europe in most public places or popular restaurants. Most often you can use a WiFi access for at least 15 minutes at no cost.


And it's all thanks to wireless Internet service. Just look for the sticker on any eatery, business, or hotel that states WIFI. This tells you that they offer wireless Internet service to their patrons/customers. Who'd have ever expected such a bizarre service in the past? Now days we thrive on it. Some folks don't even bother with cafes and coffee houses that lack wireless Internet service. They go there with the intention of being online while lounging in a calm atmosphere with fine cup of joe. Personally I prefer the high-speed Internet access I have at home. Nothing is quieter than my own house. Furthermore, I doubt you can find a public venue that offers a higher level of comfort. Try lounging on your personal deck with a compact notebook computer in-hand. That's living!

If you're not sold on wireless Internet service, let me fill you in on what makes it so ideal. The freedom of course. Imagine surfing through cyberspace without the wires cluttering up your desk and getting in the way. Just you and your laptop. Take it upstairs to the bedroom, relax on the patio, find a comfortable spot in the living room; it's totally up to you. Having the web at your fingertips without all the irksome wires is truly a benefit. Now we can actually enjoy our online experience with wireless Internet service.

You know how we redundantly complain about the traffic we encounter on the Interstate in the morning and after work? Well imagine that times 100 or maybe even a million. While we all deal with the daily pile-ups on the way home from work, it only involves who lives in our area. Imagine how terrible it would be if it involved the entire planet. Now that would be one serious traffic jam, and you can bet there would be countless fits of road rage. Well, lucky for us, we don't have to battle that kind of traffic in the physical world. Now, Internet traffic is an entirely different story.

Websites love tons of traffic. They want as much as they can possibly accumulate. Traffic is wonderful for them because it either means more business or more web-surfers clicking on ads. Ad clicking often means revenue earned via advertisers. If you know what you're doing with this stuff, you can really generate a chunk of change off it.

I'll be the first to admit that often Internet traffic really ticks me off. Maybe they should call that cyber-rage. Anyway, like me, you've surely been on the web at times and had difficulty surfing from one site to another. This may concern your actual online connection, or more likely it involves the current Internet traffic. You know, all the other web-surfers who're online with you. I typically encounter this sluggish mess when I'm checking my email. You've got to love Gmail. Now, I really shouldn't complain, because this is a totally free service. But yet it's still annoying to get on Google and not be able to check my email account. I will say that this overload of Internet traffic generally happens when folks are getting off work or primarily on Saturday.

So the next time you're surfing net-land and notice your computer being sluggish, you can assume it's the overload of fellow cyber nuts. Even if there's room for everyone in cyberspace, things do tend to get a bit slower when we're all crammed in together. Just don't get upset and toss your expensive laptop out the window in a fit of rage. You'll need it later to check your email.
